Prince Charles and Prince William recently showed a united front when they attended a joint engagement with Camilla Parker Bowles and Kate Middleton.
Photos of the father and son show Prince William sitting in a wheelchair while Prince Charles is massing his shoulders. Prince Charles and Prince William both have huge smiles on their faces, which shows their unique bond.
While speaking with Vanity Fair, royal author Sally Bedell Smith said that Prince Charles and Prince William became more united after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell exit. As such, their unique bond could help save the monarchy following a slew of crises.
Smith also revealed that Prince Charles has given Prince William more responsibilities, and the heir to the throne has also started training the Duke of Cambridge for his future roles as the Duke of Cornwall and eventually the king of Britain.
“Under the direction of Prince Charles and various advisers, William began more intensive training to be Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall, and eventually King William V.
He took courses in land management, attended the sustainability leadership institute at Cambridge, and began to immerse himself in his father’s Duchy of Cornwall,” she said.
Prince Charles and Prince William have also joint forces on more initiatives including the Earth shot Prize, which seeks to build on the heir’s decades of work on climate change.
Meanwhile, Prince William also made headlines this week after his 2011 interview was revisited. At that time, the dad of three expressed his desire to become more independent.
“I really do want to be in control of my own life. And if I don’t agree with what someone’s saying or someone’s pushing on me then I won’t do it. I’m always open for people saying that I’m royal because most of the time I am, but I hate to lose control,” he told BBC.
Four years later, Prince William said that same thing after he was accused of being a reluctant royal. He said that he also wants to focus on his role as a father on top of his royal role.
