‘Amen’: Demi Lovato Open To Having Kids Without A Partner

When it comes to the structure of Demi Lovato’s future family, the possibilities are nearly endless.

During an interview on the Radio Andy SiriusXM show on Thursday, host Andy Cohen questioned the pop star about a previous interview where she revealed her hope of starting a family this decade.

“Yeah, I don’t know what my future looks like,” Lovato, 27, told Cohen. “I don’t know If I’m going to have kids this year or in 10 years.”

The singer said she doesn't even know if that family will even consist of a significant other. “I don’t know if I’m going to do it with a partner or without cause women we don’t need partners to you know,” she explained. “Amen!”

Lovato also recalled the time she told her parents that she was also open to being with a woman in 2017. “It was actually, like emotional, but really beautiful,” the “Sober” singer said. “After everything was done I was like shaking and crying and I just felt overwhelmed.”

She went on to describe her parents as “incredible” and “so supportive.”

“My mom was the one that I was like super nervous about, but she was just like, ‘I just want you to be happy,'” Lovato recalled. “That was so beautiful and amazing, and like I said, I’m so grateful.”

Her dad, on the other hand, had a more comical response. “My dad was like, ‘yeah, obviously,'” she laughed. “And I was like, ‘oh, okay dad.'”

Lovato explained that her father referenced her song “Cool for the Summer” as proof of her fluid sexuality. In the song, which was released in 2015, she sings, “Got a taste for the cherry. I just need to take a bite. Don't tell your mother.”
