If one positive thing comes out of most of the planet being in lockdown, it’s the fact that almost every single person will have perfected their banana bread recipe.
If it’s not 5km runs or Zoom calls popping up on social media then it’s people taking to the kitchen and whipping up delicious banana bread, probably at least twice a week.
It’s not only us normal folk that enjoy some baking time, but it’s also a known fact that Duchess Meghan Markle is a fan of the bread, sure what else would you be doing with those leftover bananas.
However, as she is a Duchess she has to spice things up a bit with some added ingredients that give a little something extra to her homemade banana bread.
During a visit to a family-run farm in Dubbo, Australia, in 2018, it was said that Meghan brought some homemade banana bread with her as a gift for the family.
But Meghan has two secret, or not so secret ingredients that she adds while baking. The Duchess adds in chocolate chips and ginger to her banana bread.
Now while we can all dabble with a few chocolate chips every now and again, we thought the added ginger was quite a random ingredient for banana bread.
But the more we think about it the extra kick it would give to the bread could be rather delicious, especially with the chocolate.
At the time of the royal visit, Benita Woodley, whose farm Meghan and Harry visited, said of Meghan: ‘She said if you go to someone’s house you always bring something, so she did.’
‘She said she was worried about the bananas, that she’d put too many bananas in it. But the Duke said there’s never too many bananas.’
Rebecca English, royal correspondent for the Daily Mail also said that she tasted the bread and the bit of ginger and chocolate was ‘rather nice.’
Consider our banana bread game elevated to royal standards.
